Ruste Juxx - Indestructible

I'm a pretty big Boot Camp Clik fan, and I've always been familiar with Ruste Juxx through his mixtapes and being featured on Duck Down releases, but I wasn't prepared for how much I'd like his debut album. I'm having a hard time describing how great this album is...I'm pretty high and I can't really type out my thoughts when I am, but just trust me, this album is a banger from beginning to end. My favorite from 2008. I can't wait for some new stuff from the dude.

Haiku D'etat - Haiku D'etat

I've heard this trio described as a "supergroup", but I think thats inaccurate. I've always thought of supergroups to be groups formed by musicians that had already received recognition, makign an album to make money and nothing more, this just seems like 3 like-minded artists that wanted to work together. Anyway, I only discovered this album last night and thought I'd share it. This group consists of California based rappers Abstract Rude, Aceyalone, and Mikah 9. I'm not too familiar with any of them besides Ab Rude, but I was very impressed with this album. The album has a very laid back vibe to it that I got into right away. All three are very good lyricists, and overall it was a good listen. Very good album, especially if you're into that West Coast shit.

Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf - Big Shots

This is another one of my personal favorite albums from the excellent producer that is Peanut Butter Wolf, and San Jose rapper Charizma. This duo only got to record one album and two EP's before Charizma was tragically shot to death in a mugging in 1993. This album is great though, Peanut Butter Wolf's production is flawless and Charizma's lyrics just flow right along. The album is never at any point dull, it's just an all around terrific album. It leaves me wondering what could have been if Charizma was alive today, I have no doubt he would have been right up there with some all time greats.

Madlib - The Beat Konducta Vol.1 & 2

This album is one of my personal favorites, from Otis Jackson jr., or as he's better known, Madlib. This album is entirely instrumental and is said to be the soundtrack to a nonexistent movie of Madlib's imagination. The album is at no point dull, and is an album I can listen to over and over without becoming bored or disinterested. He uses a lot of Soul samples in the album, as well as some samples from other genres that have influenced his work such as Jazz and Funk. It's an incredible album, one that should be listened to by anyone, regardless of musical taste.
